Mrs. Hamby’s Food Science students got hands-on in the kitchen today experimenting with different cooking methods! They explored three types of heat transfer—conduction (pan frying), convection (boiling in water), and radiation (microwave)—and compared how eggs cook in two different mediums: water and oil. This fun, tasty lab gave students a deeper understanding of science in everyday cooking!

School Spirit Shirts For Sale
The Irwin County Indians football team kicked off their Friday morning by greeting students at ICES, spreading school spirit, and positive energy to start the day. Players and coaches were on hand to encourage students and wish them a fantastic Friday, continuing a proud tradition of community involvement.

Later tonight, the Indians will hit the road to take on the Dooly County Bobcats in what promises to be an exciting matchup. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they continue their season.

This fire truck that was present at Ground Zero and aided in recovery efforts was brought to campus. Students were able to see this powerful piece of history up close and learn about the events of September 11, 2001, and the heroes who served our nation that day.

Mrs. Hamby's Food Science class learned about Heat Transfer- Radiation today. Students used magnifying glasses to make the sun burn a hole in a sheet of paper. They learned about radiation from the sun and how a small bead of sunlight can burn through magnification. Once students returned to class, they wrote about this experience for their science portfolios.

Nykki Lee, ICHS alumna and Branch Manager for Five Star Credit Union in Ocilla, came to speak to Mrs. Haire’s business classes about all of the career opportunities within the financial, banking, and credit union industry including roles in finance, marketing, operations, sales, information technology, and human resources. Career exploration is a major component in the business education classes, and students will hear from more hometown community partners in other career fields in the near future.
