We are honored to welcome Jessica Arnett, MPH, Opioid Prevention Analyst for District 8-1 with the Georgia Department of Public Health. Ms. Arnett will share valuable information with families and students about opioid awareness, prevention strategies, and available community resources.
In addition, staff will provide important updates and preparation information regarding the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment System, including what students can expect and how parents can support their child at home.
This evening will provide essential information to help keep our students safe, informed, and prepared. We strongly encourage all families to attend.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Busy weekday mornings can make it a challenge for many families to find time for a healthy breakfast. Fortunately, Irwin County Schools offers nutritious school breakfasts each day to ensure students are fueled and ready for learning.
We appreciate our School Nutrition team for the great work they do in providing healthy meals for our students each morning. We encourage all students to join us for breakfast during this special week of celebration!

Irwin County Schools will be closed Monday, March 16, 2026, due to the threat of severe weather. Please stay safe and continue to monitor local weather updates as the system moves through our area tomorrow morning.
The latest update we received included a squall line early Monday morning. Medium-large hail possible. 70 mph winds. A few tornadoes possible. Discreet cells ahead of the front could have large (ef2+) tornadoes and large hail. The tornadoes along the line will be brief. Again, please make sure you have a way to get weather alerts.

Our School Nutrition team works hard every day to provide nutritious and delicious breakfast options for our students, and we appreciate all they do to help our students start the day off right.
We encourage all students to join us for breakfast during this fun week of celebration!

These students did an outstanding job showcasing the skills they have developed through FFA, including leadership, teamwork, and knowledge of proper meeting procedures. Their presentation was a great example of the opportunities FFA provides for students to grow as leaders.
We are proud of these students and appreciate them taking the time to share their talents with our Board of Education. Great job representing Irwin County!

The ICHS Band earned straight Superior ratings at LGPE yesterday in Jesup! They also received a Superior rating in the Sight-Reading Room — an outstanding accomplishment.
This is a very special group of students, and we are incredibly proud of their focus and performance on stage. Way to represent ICHS with excellence! ❤️🖤

Jesten has been a huge part of the growth and success of Irwin FBLA this year, and he will represent our local chapter well in his new role as a region officer. Congrats, Jesten!

This week, we’re proud to recognize a fantastic group of high school students who stepped up to serve others by helping pack food bags for members of our school community.
Working alongside our partners at Helping Hands Help End Hunger, these students gave their time and energy to ensure bags were prepared and ready to be shared. Their positive attitudes and commitment to helping others made a meaningful impact.
It’s always encouraging to see our students leading through service. We appreciate their hard work and the example they set for others! ❤️🖤

Principal Jared Luke and Heather Burke, ELA Teacher, proudly accepted the recognition on behalf of the school. This honor reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers, and the strong instructional focus on literacy across our district.
It was great to welcome Mr. Woods back to Ocilla and celebrate this outstanding achievement together!

Mrs. Carter's 9th grade students recently stepped into the role of accident reconstruction specialists. Using Newton’s Laws, momentum, and force, students analyzed collision scenarios, examined skid marks and speed evidence, and presented evidence-based explanations of what happened.
We were especially grateful to have Officer Phillips visit and share real-world insight into crash investigations. His perspective helped students see how physics connects directly to law enforcement and community safety.
We're proud of the critical thinking and teamwork our students demonstrated!
