The students took a hayride, played corn hole, painted pumpkins, and participated in other harvest activities. The first graders really enjoyed their trip and learned a lot about harvest time!

Congratulations to 5th Grade for being recognized as PLC of the Month at I.C.E.S.! This team stood out because they consistently submitted their agenda on time, came prepared with prework, and engaged in rotational sharing that allowed every member to contribute meaningfully. Most importantly, they modeled intentional collaboration by turning concerns into positives and applying instructional suggestions, keeping the focus on how to best serve students. Keep up the excellent work!

On National Custodian Appreciation Day, I.C.E.S. would like to recognize Mrs. Neicy Mack and her dedicated team for the work they do keeping our school clean and welcoming. Mrs. Neicy goes above and beyond and does so with a smile, and we are so glad to have her and her team at I.C.E.S.

Students in Mrs. Edgar's classroom worked on Unit 3- Measurement today. Students measured gummy worms by stretching the gummy worm to compare the difference in lengths . They had so much fun exploring measurement and using the new additions to their math boxes, a ruler!

Irwin County Elementary School's cookie dough fundraiser has been extended to run through October 10. Please order your cookie dough and other items and help to support our school! Students who sell ten or more units will also get to visit the gaming trailer.

ICES Parents of Students in Grades K-3

Irwin County Elementary School recognized the Students of the Month for August today. These students are "respectful, responsible, and ready to learn," and their teachers are very proud of them!

Students at Irwin County Elementary School always enjoy attending Music class with Mrs. Dee Hodnett. Mrs. Hodnett designs fun activities and ties music in with other subjects as well.
Mr. Rathgeber's second grade class is pictured learning about rhythms. They played Don't Break the Ice to identify rhythms and they each created their own quarter note, quarter rest & pair of eighth notes out of pipe cleaners.
Ms. Mitchell's first grade class learned about Tempo. Presto means fast so they ran around the carpet, then the music changed to Largo - slow- and they had to move slowly around the carpet. They also learned 3 more tempos: Adagio, Moderato, & Allegro, and they used race cars to demonstrate the tempo.
Mr. Rathgeber's students and Ms. Mitchell's students had a great time in music last week!

Being at school each day is one of the most important steps to success. When students miss school, they miss valuable learning and opportunities to grow.
Let’s work together to build great habits—because showing up every day helps our students shine brighter! 🌞📚✏️

ICES staff and students would like to recognize our Chiefs of the Week:
Mrs. Amelia Edwards is being recognized for her willingness to get out of her comfort zone and lead the second-grade team. She has been essential in completing the math pacing guides. She has worked diligently to understand Inspire and how the resources can enhance teachers' instructional capacity in delivering content.
Mrs. Niecey Mack is being recognized for her willingness to "risk it all" by standing in the line of fire to promote safety at our school. Mrs. Niecey is always visible and vigilant in her tasks of ensuring that ICES is a pleasant environment for all students and staff.
Mr. Tim Collins is being recognized for serving our team so well when discipline challenges arise. He handles students with care and empathy. He sees beyond the behavior and tries to get to the core of what the child is feeling, so we can address all of their needs.
Please help us celebrate these individuals!!!

Math was hands-on and fun in Mrs. Spell’s class today! Students worked in groups using domino cutouts to explore number combinations, then matched them to their core numeral values. Activities like this make learning math interactive and engaging while building teamwork and problem-solving skills!

Here are some more photos from this morning's Little Indian Kick Off.
