Today, Mrs. Allyson Tankersley's third grade class explored division by reading the book _The Doorbell Rang_ and learning how to divide into fair shares using cookie cereal. The students divided the cookies into equal groups and wrote the division equations. At I.C.E.S., learning math can be fun--and yummy!

Pack your bags, National School Lunch Week is almost here!

First grade made math sweet today! Students used M&M’s to sort, graph, add, and subtract — turning candy into a colorful math lesson.

Our Kindergarten mathematicians at I.C.E.S. took learning outdoors today! They hopped, skipped, and counted their way down a life-sized number line.

Mrs. Kilbury’s second grade class at I.C.E.S. celebrated Hispanic heritage month by reading a book about different Hispanic cultures. The class completed a writing project about Hispanic Heritage Month, and finished off by enjoying some sweet Mexican treats! The students really enjoyed being able to learn about these cultures and why we celebrate them!

Mark your calendars for a day of family fun!

For Rock Your School Day at I.C.E.S., the entire fifth grade was transformed into the "Fifth Grade Food Court." Students and teachers came in costume or in Irwin County attire to see the connections between food and science, math, and even language. From teacher baristas to students in pizza costumes, everyone had a great time!

For Rock Your School Day at I.C.E.S., Mr. Haggard's Pre-K class had a "glowing" day with a "Let's Glow Crazy" theme! Students enjoyed glow in the dark bowling, accessories, glow in the dark writing and drawing, and even glow in the dark PlayDoh!

For Rock Your School Day at I.C.E.S., Mrs. Spell's class got to experience farm life and see a hog, sit in a tractor, and even hold a chicken! The students learned a lot about animals and agriculture, and had a great time!

For Rock Your School Day, Mrs. Edwards' second grade class participated in a day long skeleton themed activity. They read Skeleton Hiccups, made skeletons, did skeleton math, and experimented to predict which liquid would make a skeleton foam up. The students had a spooky good time!

Today Mrs. Edgar's second grade class experienced many pumpkin STEM activities for Rock Your School Day! They began the day by reading The Biggest Pumpkin Ever which paired perfectly with our HMH lessons this week over compromising! Students enjoyed carving a pumpkin, feeling and smelling the inside of the pumpkin then making the pumpkin “throw up”. They learned about chemical reactions and the ingredients needed (vinegar and baking soda). They ended the day by creating catapults for a “pumpkin chunkin” contest and measured the distance of their launched pumpkins.
