Work-Based Learning coordinators from the Georgia Southwest Region met in Irwin County on Tuesday, September 3, at the Irwin County High School CASE Farm. Hosting were WBL coordinators Denise Hamby and Shayla Johnson from ICHS, Sara Stuart of Fitzgerald High, and Sharon Lavender from Wilcox County High.
Hal Wiley, CEO of Fitzgerald High School College and Career Academy (FHSCCA), was the keynote speaker.
Wesley Paulk gave the region coordinators a tour of the Case Farm and Darrell Ross invited them to tour Osceola Cotton Gin Company. Irwin EMC provided cell phone Pop Sockets, card holders, and key chains for all attending as well as providing the luncheon prepared and delivered by Irwin’s own Lyndsey Phillips, owner of Our Daily Bread.
Fishing Team Takes Fifth Place
The ICHS Fishing Team took 5th place out of 170 teams at the first tournament of the season for the Georgia Bass Nation high school division at West Point Lake. Congratulations Peyton Dunn and Parker Guy!
Prater Music Festival is May 8-10
The annual Prater Music Festival will be held on May 8-10, beginning on Wednesday, May 8, with a worship service at Mt. Olive AME Church at 7:30 pm. On Thursday, you can meet the Dave Prater Scholarship Winner at the dinner held at the Irwin County High School cafeteria at 6 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $25 at the door. Then enjoy a street dance on Friday, May 10, on Cherry Street in Ocilla featuring performances by the ICHS Jazz Band at 6:30 and the Snowball Band at 7:10 pm. "A Grand Affair" to be Held on April 6
Irwin County High School's 2019 Prom, "A Grand Affair," will be held on April 6, 2019, at the Grand Theatre in Fitzgerald. Doors open at 6 pm, the senior walk is at 7 pm, and the prom begins at 8 pm.
Tickets are $25 for individuals and $40 for couples. Reserved seat tickets for the senior walk are $5 and tickets at the door for the walk will be $1 each. Tickets will be on sale through March 29. Students planning on attending must complete the online Intend to Attend by March 22.
